NVIDIA launches cheaper DX10 cards…

April 18, 2007

NVIDIA recently launched:

  • GeForce 8600 GTS
  • GeForce 8600 GT
  • GeForce 8500 GT
  • GeForce 8400 (OEM only)
  • GeForce 8300 (OEM only)
The OEM parts will not be available as Add-in card and will be bundled by system builders only. Its gonna be better for the aam aadmi who wants to upgrade to the 8xxx series of NVIDIA cards and doesn’t want to sell off his organs in the process.
The 8600 GT will be available shortly in India, the others will take some time though. However, the price is still high enough, and the performance boost isn’t very significant when compared to other DX9 cards in the same price range. However, its the case with older games. Newer games do justice to the 8xxx cards being more on texture, z, and color fill rates. The G84 cards are great for HD video on their PC. So those who are into it, going for it makes sense. But wait a bit longer.
ATI is yet to unveil its DX10 architecture completely. Its gonna be a nice fight and consumers will be the luckiest lot.
